Feburary 20, 2014, - in a significant incident within the compound of the Hakim Nasir Khusraw Balkhi Cultural Center in Kabul, a thwarted suicide attack has drawn severe condemnation. Notably, the building targeted houses Khaama Press, a leading news agency, suggesting that journalists and media workers could have been among the primary targets. This facility hosts an array of organizations, including the cultural center with the world’s largest handwritten Quran archive, the Insurance Corporation of Afghanistan, healthcare providers, and various companies in the petroleum and mining sectors.The leadership of the Cultural Center released a statement suggesting the attackers aimed to obliterate the precious Quran archive. Security guard Agha Mir’s valiant sacrifice, losing his life to prevent the bomber from entering, protected not only this irreplaceable cultural heritage but also the lives of numerous individuals, including the staff and visitors of Khaama Press.
